Australian Journalists – You have a responsibility to tell the truth about renewables

Dick Smith’s advertisement in The Australian newspaper today (8 August 2025) asks journalists to tell the truth about renewables.

Mr Bowen states that wind farms provide reliable power, however their output is totally unreliable and depends completely on wind speed.

A battery for Mr Bowen’s Illawarra Wind Farm would cost around $73 billion and would only provide power for 1.5 days of wind drought.

This would make electricity totally unaffordable.  It’s a pity the public are not told these facts.

ACT journalists, why not tell your readers the truth?  That is, the ACT electrical grid is not powered 100% by renewables – despite statements on the Government website stating this.

In fact, the Canberra electrical grid is connected to the coal and gas grid of the east coast and does not supply 100% renewable power.

Come on Australian journalists – step up and tell the facts.  We need you do do this.
